What I Loved About Being Pregnant: The Food

27 July 2010 36 Comments

Soon my youngest will be one! I’m so excited to plan a little birthday party for her and take photos of her diving into a cake. At the same time, I’m exercising like a madwoman and carefully watching what goes into my mouth. Why, you ask? Because, when my baby turns one, I am officially no longer “post-pregnancy”.

I feel like my excuses for holding onto those extra pounds will be gone. Pregnancy was so much fun. While I didn’t splurge on cookies and hamburgers everyday, I definitely allowed myself more leeway with food than I do now. It was nice to have a built in chocolate excuse (“Baby is craving it”).

I’m looking forward to ditching the yoga pants for jeans that feel comfortable but all of the aerobics I’m doing is not easy. By the time I make dinner, put the kid to bed and clean up, I already feel like I’ve run a marathon. I’d like for a nutritionist to quantify the number of calories I’ve been burning just from being a mom. Surely that’s enough of a workout, right?

A very small, crazy part of me longs to be pregnant again for the eating freedom. Eating for two was special. Not only because I was allowed to consume an extra 300-400 calories, but because it is the only time that feeding a child is easy! No bibs, no food rejection, no spitting carrots into my face… :)

I guess until we decide to have another child I’ll be passing on mayonnaise and ice-cream. Hopefully, my body will thank me.

Finding out it was a boy, seeying him move and hearing his heartbeat for the first time. I am the mother of a 22 month old and just found out I am expecting number two! With my first son, I was very sick…horribly sick!!! But for some reason…I almost always felt like I was the most beautiful I have ever been! I loved my big round belly…and the way my skin had this wonderful glow!!! I cannot wait to do it all over again!!!!

This may seem odd, but I loved wearing a bikini to the beach and have nobody judge me because I had a big belly. It was my least self conscious time.

I loved all the firsts. Getting to hear the baby’s heartbeat. Seeing the ultrasounds. I loved the extra attention I would get. I also loved all the kicks and movements I would feel. Best feeling in the world. I loved at the end I would get a new bundle of joy.

I have a 6 year old boy, a 18 month old girl , and now a 2 month old girl…I loved feeling them in my belly, loves it when they does something new because they gets excited too. With the 18 month old girl when she says a new word we both claps our hands with big smiles on our faces and we gives each other a high five…. these are precious moments that I love ….

I also forget to say besides feeling them inside in belly moving around…. I also loved the waiting game when its gets close to the due date … just wondering when you’ll go into labour and when you do have a little contractions you’re wondering if its time…I loved that too….

My son, Lucas, is just over 8 months old and my husband & I tried for several years to have him. So, each moment during our pregnancy was amazing. I still miss my belly (not the Hobbitt feet that I had on a few occasions!!) but the perfectly round belly that I miss rubbing and feeling Lucas respond with a kick or punch, the belly that my husband each night would kiss and tell Lucas that “Daddy loved him” and “would see him soon” and the belly that I would rub consciously and subconsciously for comfort or “just because”; I loved the moments when Lucas was quiet inside and then as soon as I rubbed my belly he’d respond back to me, it felt like we were the only ones in this world. I had many wonderful “firsts”, even developed shingles!! Who gets that during pregnancy?!! But, as I too start planning Lucas’ 1st birthday I find it bittersweet because he is starting to lose that “baby look” and getting more of the “toddler look” to him which means that babyhood is slowly coming to an end but that so many wonderful things are still unwritten with us. Guess it’s time to start on baby #2!!! No, seriously, Lucas needs a brother or sister!! lol

I loved everything about being pregnant! It was an excuse for everything from eating whatever (and whenever) I wanted to lazing around the house, doing absolutely nothing, all day. Unfortunately, that was to be my last time being pregnant, as it is far to risky for me to go through it again, but I would if I could!

All of the back and pelvic pain, the nausea, heartburn and swollen everything disappeared whenever I felt our child moving and growing stronger. I also miss the handy shelf that a pregnant belly becomes:)

  • Minna said:

There were so many things! If it had to be one thing I think I would choose napping! Eating was great too especially when it was dessert time or when I felt like having whatever I wanted!

I enjoyed being able to nap all the time & I loved feeling the baby move! That is about all I liked but I would do it again in a heartbeat because the end result is worth it all.

  • JOdy said:

I loved napping. By nature, I am not someone who naps and even when I tried I could never get those 20 minutes of afternoon bliss… until I became pregnant. Napping became such an easy thing when before it was a stuggle, an effort even. My body and my mind worked as one to give me the rest I and my growing babe craved.

  • Jenn said:

I loved being able to just take it easy, hubby did everything for me(not that he usually doesnt spoil me) and i was able to focus on getting enough rest. He made sure the baby and i were well taken care of first, and then our older two girls and then himself.

I honestly loved all the adoring attention I got. Call me vain but I basked in the special treatment. No one wanted to make the pregnant woman angry ;) …I will blame THAT on the hormones! Also, I lived off of McDonald’s, I can’t stand the stuff post or pre pregnancy…but on man I could not resist it when I was pregnant. I justified the trips to the grease joint by balancing it out with intake of lots of veggies a dairy….I’m paying for it dearly now!!!

    I liked several things:

    - Having a big belly was actually a beautiful thing. :D
    - I could pig out and no one would keep me from doing it. :P
    - I was allowed to rest as much as I wanted! :)

And of course, above all, feeling my baby move and kick were the most blissful moments of my pregnancy. Including when my husband would put his ear on my belly to hear the baby’s heart! ;)

  • Kristen said:

I loved every bit of it. The food, the attention, the movements, the doctors appointments, the ultrasounds, all of it. Heck I’ll even throw in the bed rest!!! I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old and we plan on having one more and I look forward to all that comes with being pregnant again. It truly is the best experience in the world!!

When it comes to busty black porn, I truly like watching those that concentrate on displaying the boobs as they move up and lower and jiggle with the chick on best. Watching a schokoh?utige young lady with some monstrous bosoms consider it from regarding is even better, although, simply because I get to determine those tits from an angle which i don’t usually get to see while I am screwing. Following all, when I’m screwing some king-size titted girl from behind, all I can do is grab those gorgeous melons. When i watch busty schokoh?utige porn, about the other hand, an can view the front view and see those titties as they wave back and forth and bounce with every hit from behind.
